Oral and maxillofacial surgeons diagnose and treat conditions specifically related to the mouth, teeth, jaws and facial regions.

Staffed with highly trained and compassionate assistants to provide excellence in patient care
Intravenous sediation administered by Dr Skinner or his registered nurse under his direct supervision, as well as additional support in stress relief and anxiety mangement. A board certified anesthesiologist or certified nurse anesthetist is always available when necessary.
In addition to scheduled appointments following the surgery we provide 24-hour on-call service.

Treatment Innovations

Dr. Skinner’s career has focused on these complex procedures; he is a recognized expert in dental implants, dental extractions, TMJ disorders and corrective jaw surgery, among other treatments. Dr. Skinner and his staff also diagnose and treat facial pain and injuries to the jaw and face including fractures.

Our office team is trained in IV sedation and general anesthesia. Patients are continually monitored during and after surgery to ensure a safe and comfortable procedure. Dr. Skinner and his surgical staff are all well trained and certified in Basic Life Support as well as Advanced Cardiac Life Support and participate in continuing education to further their knowledge and abilities.

Dr. Daniel W. Skinner is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who has improved the oral health and comfort of patients since 1997.

A Strong Start

He completed his undergraduate work in Minnesota, dental school at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics

Peer Recognition

In 1993, Dr. Skinner earned the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Award from the Iowa Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society whose membership is limited to dental students exhibiting excellence in scholarship, exemplary character and qualities for professional growth and attainment.

In 1997, he received the Merle L. Hale Graduate Research Award, given to a senior resident in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery for outstanding achievement in oral surgery research. That same year, Dr. Skinner joined Dr. Maxwell and Dr. Higuchi in private practice.

Leadership in the Field

Dr. Skinner has been active in the Spokane District Dental Society, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Washington State Dental Association, American Dental Association, and the Western Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has lectured for the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and served as a moderator at the annual meeting of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Skinner has been a member of the Operational and Invasive Procedure Committee for Valley Hospital and Medical Center in Spokane Valley since 2004.

In 2006, Dr. Skinner was appointed as an Examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and was reappointed to the Examination Committee for the past 10 years. He served as Section Co-chairman for two years.

A Strong Foundation for OMAX

Dr. Skinner renamed his practice OMAX in 2016, after a 19-year partnership with Dr. Higuchi at the Northwest Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Spokane Valley, WA.

Dr. Skinner and his wife Rhonda have four children and enjoy all the outdoor activities the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Dr. Skinner enjoys running, swimming and biking and has participated in numerous triathlons and continues to train for upcoming events.

Meet The Staff

The OMAX team focuses primarily on the comfort and care of our patients. Our exceptionally trained surgical team assists in surgeries for wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, emergency dental care among other things. Our knowledgeable business staff help you schedule your appointments and answer insurance and billing questions. In every area of the office, our desire is to make you feel comfortable.

Tracy

Business Manager

As the Business Manager, Tracy leads our team of dedicated staff and is responsible for the day to day operations of the practice on behalf of the doctor. She ensures the OMAX team is assisting patients to their fullest potential by providing the best possible experience from the moment they walk into the office.

Tracy joined the OMAX team in 2003; she has a business degree from EWU and is currently pursuing an accounting degree. She found her niche working for the best oral and maxillofacial surgeon in the Inland Northwest. She lives in North Spokane with her husband and two daughters and enjoys boating, traveling and reading a good book.

Executive Assistant

Julie has been part of the OMAX team since 2008. She grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Spokane in 2006. She truly enjoys being a part of a team that works so well together and has a genuine passion for helping patients maneuver through the process of improving their smile and quality of life.

When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two boys. Her family is very important to her. Julie also enjoys camping and snow skiing as well as spending quality time with her friends, most of whom she has the pleasure of working with every day!

Financial Coordinator

Anna began her career in the dental field in 1990 as a dental assistant in various specialty offices, before moving to the business side of the field in 2006. She began working for OMAX in 2008 as a Financial Coordinator and absolutely loves what she does! The very best part of working for OMAX is seeing the amazing results for patients’ smiles and knowing that somehow she played a part in that.

Anna moved to North Idaho in 2013 from the Seattle area with her husband and can’t imagine ever leaving this beautiful area. They spend their time camping and motorcycle riding every chance they get!

Denise has been part of the OMAX family for for over 25 years. She works in various areas of the office including business, surgical and recovery. Denise finds it rewarding being able to participate in patient treatment and witness the smiles of patients upon treatment completion.

She has the privilege of working with amazing ladies whom have become such an important part of her life and work family. Denise has lived in Spokane for over 25 years and is married to her best friend. They have two beautiful daughters. She enjoys being outside horseback riding, camping, skiing and jet-skiing with her family and friends.
